House of Dynasty was on my list to try for a while now and it did not disappoint. We went around 4pm after. When we enter we were the only people in the restaurant but that changed quickly and I now see why. The food was very good. Everything we had was flavorful. We ordered the pan fried dumplings, egg rolls, hunan chicken, sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup, and hot and sour soup. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The server who took care of us was knowledgeable about the menu and was engaging with my 6 year old who loves to talk (bonus points for that). We had a good experience overall and cannot wait to return in the future.

When we were first married, we lived in a townhouse not far from Hayfield High school. Across the street from the school was a place with the best chinese food. It was always "classy" (I dislike the word, but it's the best one I can think of at the moment that gives the right sense of dignity and care for quality that was palpable in the restaurant.) We moved since then. Last night was our 1st time back in 10 years. Not only was the service as good as we remembered, the food was even better. The fried wontons were obviously handmade and filled with delicious cheese. The fried meet dumplings were HUGE, like tennis ball sized, handmade, and delicious. I had the general tsao's chicken (my standard for quality comparisons among chinese restaurants in the US). My daughter had the crystal chicken (same as general tsao's but with white meat). Wifey had the veggie lo mein. We all had the blue hawaiian drink. The total bill (w/o tip) was just under $40/person. In this market, this is eminently reasonable for drinks, apps, and an entree each. The food quality was top notch. I dare say it was some of the best Chinese food in NoVA. I highly recommend House of Dynasty. I understand they have carryout, too. Almost wish I lived closer.

Dynasty is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Alexandria. Though, as others have mentioned, prices have escalated substantially over the past 2-3 years. My favorite dishes are the chicken corn soup (served with a hefty amount of those little crispy crackers on the side), moo-shu pork and the egg rolls. The wonton soup is tasty too. We also like the lunch specials that have generous portions. A cozy and comfortable ambiance, with plenty of tables. Service is usually top-notch and attentive. Though, the next to last time we were there, our male server showed a bit of attitude and seemed more interested in sitting at a table across the restaurant chit-chatting with the people at that table. I consider that a one-off experience though, not typical of the usual Dynasty dining experience. One feature we really liked seems to have been discontinued, and that was the restaurant offering you a tiny cup of sherbet between the appetizers and the main course, perhaps to cleanse our palates. Still, we really like Dynasty and will be coming back again and again.

I came here 25 years ago when my son was smaller and we moved away and didn't get back up this way. Met a friend for lunch and we just missed the lunch deals by 8 minutes. There is a huge difference in prices and I am quite sure size. Since I only eat small portions I asked if we could order off the lunch menu and was told it wasn't possible so I asked to speak to the manager, they allowed it but I was lectured on the fact that this would not be allowed next time. I'm not sure if the waiter was having a bad day but I felt chastised several times by my questions and told him as much. Despite my waiters attitude the food was very tasty and fresh. The egg Roll not shown was very fresh and full of vegetable with three right amount of wrapping. The Hunan shrimp will be worth the drive just to have it again and my friend's eggplant was very tasty.
